THE LONG HOT SUMMER (1985)
2 DVD Set
Very difficult movie to find on DVD, Region 1. With this movie, the title and credits are in German (at the very beginning and closing credits), but the movie itself is in it's original english.
The made-for-TV The Long Hot Summer was based on the 1958 theatrical film of the same name-which, in turn, was based on two William Faulkner short stories. Don Johnson plays Ben Quick, a Southern drifter who is under suspicion as a "barn burner." Ben secures a job at the Mississippi mansion of town-boss Will Varner (Jason Robards). Varner's daughter Noel (Judith Ivey) and daughter-in-law Eula (Cybill Shepherd) vie for the handsome Ben's attention, while the patriarch's weakling son Jody (William Russ) seethes. When a few local barns are burned, Ben is the primary suspect-and no one is more suspicious than Noel. A murder trial and lynch mob both figure into the second half of the two-part The Long Hot Summer; the film originally aired October 6 and 7, 1985.

The Long Hot Summer - Don Johnson
When I first received this order the 1st disk was unwatchable. I contacted DVDsnSuch and was promptly sent a new copy. I enjoyed watching this movie as I am a hugh Don Johnson fan. I watched it when it came out in the 80's and it was just as good as I remembered. It's great to have an option of finding older programs on DVD. Thanks

The Long Hot Summer 1985
This 1985 made for TV version starring Don Johnson & Cybill Shepherd is superior to the Paul Newman 1958 version. This copy is superior to any VHS or previous DVD available in the US. The opening & closing titles are in German but otherwise it's the original version as broadcast on NBC. Clear, high quality visuals & sound.

Great find!
I loved this movie growing up in the 80's. It has everything a girl and guy could ask for. Romance, muder and southern wit.

1985 TV Version of The Long Hot Summer
I was extremely pleased with the 2 DVD set for this TV movie. Since I am older my hearing is as good as when I first saw this movie back in 1985 so it would have been nice to have closed caption. Other than that I highly recommend this movie and DvDs N Such. Have a Merry Christmas From Millermus
